hi I don't understand how the LEDs are orientated , which goes to the flat side anode or cathode

Anode + and also has the longer lead
Cathode - has the shorter lead and also a flat side
If you look inside the led, the cathode is also the biggest of the two.

cheers , my leds don't really have a flat side i can see but i can work it out form your post thanks
