How do I test voices during building, and how do I check sec

From the build guide:
Yocto2 firmware allow you to test each voices during building process. A
jumper on pins 1-2 of Test _mode header set the CPU in Voice test mode. In
this mode a trig pulse is sent every second to all voices.
Do all of the wires between IO and Main board need to be connected to do this?
Where should I listen for the output?
Also in the Nava assembly guide it at the end of each section it says something like 'check section power and voltages' before adding the ICs;
How do I do this, what voltages and where do I test?
