Metal shaft pots?

Discuss Nava construction and related issues
  • If you bolt pots to the case wouldn't that mean running wires from the pots to the board? Sounds like it would be difficult to attach/detach all those wires, the way the board sits in the Happymom / Kacper/ Erica enclosures.
  • Just to clarify- I'm looking for pots that are the same size as the ones included in the Nava kit- just metal, with threaded bottoms.

I believe the shaft size is 9mm, but I'm not sure of the rest of the specs.

No wires should need to be run- these can just be soldered in place shaft of the plastic pots that are currently provided.

The difference is that they're more stable, as there is threading protrudes from the face of the drum machine and can be fastened down with a nut.

A lot of older (and some newer) synths did it like this (Korg Trident, Moog Voyager, Korg MS-20m...these are ones I know rather well!).
  • I believe these Tayda pots work, you can get most of the values except for the 500ohm, master volume and data pots.

I was going to go that route, but it made getting a set of knobs more complicated.
I have some at home, I can take a photo of them side by side later.
  • Thanks for the link, biftek- that's just what I was looking for.

And good point about the knobs- I just received the lovely set from BastienL, so wouldn't want to have to discard those! I'll keep up the search for metal pots, though, where the shaft would fit these knobs. Might make a trip to a local supplier.

    Thanks!
